Easter Bonnets

As part of the Easter, traditions at St Thomas’ children in Year 2 have been designing and making some Easter bonnets. They were show cased in the hall today during CW. What amazing designs, well done! Freya also had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the foot washing service, re-enacting Jesus washing his disciple’s feet.

Next Term

Next Term our topic will be ‘Jungle Fever’ and the children will be exploring different jungle animals and habitats, the effect of humans and their impact on the environment and focussing on a range of books and poems based around the jungle theme. We are also very excited that on Friday 26th April we have our trip to the Lincolnshire wildlife park to launch are new topic! Have a restful Easter break and we will see you when we get back!

Ice Experiments

As part of our topic 'Pole to Pole' the children experimented how ice melts and what affect different liquids or powders have on melting the ice. They were fascinated to see what happened to each individual ice cube and loved touching them...until they became too cold for them to handle!

Today Year Two had a very exciting afternoon! We spent some time with the chicks from reception and read the story book ‘Egg to Chicken’ to discover what journey they had been on so far! They were so small that they fitted into the palms of our hands and all of the children became besotted with their new little friends!

World Book Day

The children all looked amazing today! Thank you for all the effort and thought that went into all of their costumes, they have really enjoyed explaining who their character is! Over the course of the day, the children have done some reading activities and finally voted for their favourite book! They then wrote their own book reviews and discussed which were their favourites and why. Well done Year Two!
