This week in RS.

Wow what an exciting, full, fun and tiring week we have had. The children worked really hard to perform their Nativity 'Hey Ewe' which they did brilliantly. Welldone Reception and Year 1!

In our learning this week we have been looking at the book and film 'Stickman', we have loved hearing the story and writing about the different things Stickman has got upto. We took this into our play and even began creating our own stickmen out of playdough, sticks and googly eyes.

In Maths this week we have been concentrating on Patterns, the children have loved creating repeating patterns using combinations of one and tw different items. We have used natural resources linke pine cones and conkers, colours, shapes, cubes, peg boards and finger painting to create patterns.

Class RS

Welcome to RS's class page!

Wow what an exciting week we have had, we had a special visitor come into our classroom. Can you guess who? He had purple prickles, terrible tusks and terrible claws....

This led to some fantastic rhyming and writing from the children, rhyming words is very tricky!

In Maths we have been looking at more and less, and beginning to make some of our christmas crafts in between singing our Nativity songs.

Today we had a very exciting visit from the fire fighters (and their engine) from Boston fire station. The children were very excited and asked some fantastic questions, We learnt how to keep ourselves safe on Bonfire night and watching fireworks and we also learnt what to do if your clothes caught fire 'STOP! DROP! ROLL!'.

We looked at the fire fighters cutting gear, the hoses, ladders and we heard the 4 different sirens we also learnt that a fireman needs to get changed and into the fire engine in 1 minute.

We looked at the story of Rama and Sita and how the festival of lights 'Diwali' is celebrated. We retold the story and created Rangoli patterns, we also saw that lanterns were made for decoration so we had a god at making our own and decorating them brightly.

We are loving the Autumn season in reception. We have been looking closely at the season and the different wonders that it brings with it by exploring our outdoor area.

.

We have also been looking at the importance of everyone being different and what an exciting world that makes.

Reception Autumn Newsletter

We have had such an exciting start to the term, this term we will be looking at the topic of 'All About me'.

We have been thinking about all the different things which we are going to try to do all the time at school. So together we made a class promise.

As part of our topic we have painted our self portraits and we have created a collage using 2D shapes pieced together to make our houses.

Some children also stood infront of the class and talked about their family and who different people were.

In maths we began by creating repeating patterns with paint, we are moving onto counting and matching an amount to a numeral. In Literacy we have been working on writing our name and learning new sounds through Read Write Inc. We will be using the Read Write Inc phonics program daily to introduce new sounds and rhymes to help us write sounds.

We have also visited our Reflective Garden, we talked about how we behave in the garden and what it can be used for. We also though about what he word 'Respect' means, some children also shared with the class how they felt about starting school.

'I feel proud that I came in today by myself'

' I felt scared but now I am very happy'
